Reviewer: Duncan from Scotland Given the price of this crossbow, I have to say I was quite sceptical about what the quality was going to be like. Was very impressed though! This thing seems bombproof. Really nice sturdy stock, with a good bit of weight to it which makes it feel quite stable. This is the first time I've owned anything other than a pistol crossbow (which broke fairly swiftly), but I'm a mechanical engineer, and I can't really see any points on the bow which seem weak and likely to break. Not being particularly experienced with crossbows I might even be doing it a disservice when I say this but when I was shooting yesterday from a distance of about 25m I was getting a tight grouping on the target, all within 2 inches of the dot in the middle. This was with me resting on a wheely bin though, I certainly couldn't have got that accuracy standing up. At this distance the bolt was going right through 6 layers of carpet and 4 layers of carpet underlay! It's a pretty brutal beast. Bad points. The drawstrength is pretty extreme, you really need to wear leather gloves if you're planning on loading up more than a few shots. Obviously this isn't anything to do with this bow in particular though. Also I seem to go through arrows pretty rapidly, probably due to not having a proper target, but I've bent quite a few and lost a few feathers. Again, probably my own fault and not that of the bow. I give it 5 stars since it seems so far to be a quality product, but at an incredibly good price. Reviewer: mark from manchester fast delivery and a quality product thank you Reviewer: Paul from High Wycombe I read Duncan's review and decided to try this crossbow. It's very cheap but seems soundly built. It needs a little bit of assembly when you get it and you'd have trouble putting the string on without help. I've only fired about 40 bolts from it, but, I'm quite easily getting 3-4 inch groups and I've never fired a crossbow before. Will it last a long time? Who knows, but some far more expensive crossbows have very poor reviews on the net. Service from Blades and Bows was excellent - detailed answers to my beginner questions and then very fast dispatch and delivery. « Back |
