Double Barrelled Derringer pistol, 1866
Henry Deringer was a famous maker of small pocket pistols in the 19th century
This Double Barrel Derringer was designed in 1866 by William Elliot of Remington. So popular was the design that it remained in production for over 40 years. With its small size and relatively light weight, it became a staple of card sharks and con men. You could put it in your pocket or hide it in your boot. Its double barrels shot .41 caliber bullets in a two-shot single action.
This pistol was also frequently used by women (think Agatha Christie) as it was an ideal size to be hidden in a purse or a stocking..
This historically accurate, non-firing replica weighs approx .3kg and measures approx 13.5cm
