My wife bought me this sword as a name day gift (she is slovak) and I must say I am very happy with it. For the price the quality is very high, quite amazing considering it is under 50 pounds and its hand forged and from what I can see, double pegged. The blade is semi sharp but can be sharpened to a very fine edge using a Lansky sharpener. The handling is in my opinon better than a Morpheous Katana (which I also have) due to a slightly lighter blade. The saya is gloss laqured and is as high a quality as the sword, although mine had saw dust still present inside, but a tap or two soon dislodged it. I would highly recommend the Imperial katana as a brilliant entry level Japanese sword. It is without a doubt excellent value for money.
